The aims of the Strength and Conditioning program are to:
- develop correct exercise technique
- improve the strength base of all athletes
- individualize programs to address athlete specific strengths and weaknesses
- improve athletes' sports specific movements and techniques through agility and speed sessions
- improve athletes' physical conditioning through sport specific conditioning sessions
Each athlete is required to fill in a training diary for each weight training session. This enables the Strength & Conditioning staff to monitor each athlete's progress and adjust programs to enhance the athletes’ development. Abdominal/core stability, injury prevention/rehabilitation, proprioception and agility programs are also performed as part of their overall strength and conditioning program.
Speed and Agility Training: In the World of Sport - speed is King. Sport can be explosive but it can also be unpredictable, multi directional, lightning fast it’s not just about linear speed; it's about rapid, split second changes of direction!
Flexibility: Muscles work best when they have an optimal "length-tension relationship." Any deviation in this relationship can result in anything from reduced force output, a reduction in strength, speed and endurance to a serious injury.
